Balto 3: Wings of Change Review

A Random Capture...

My Review for Balto 3: Wings of Change

Well, as for me, Wings of Change was really a great come back for the Balto sequels after the slightly discouraging Wolf Quest. I am quite surprise and thankful to the producers. But, the directors for Balto 2 & 3 are both the same, by Phil Weinstein. Anyway, WOC is much better than WQ. It was almost as good as the first Balto movie. But as always, the first movies are always the best of the rest. I would rate the first as a 9.5 and WOC with an 8.5, whereas WQ with a 7.

The starting of Balto 3

The picture quality of WOC is indeed one of the best in animations. The backgrounds and characters are very well drawn and colored. The characters drawn are definitely better than WQ. I love the songs and the soundtrack. It was really splendid. Except for the part where Boris’ girlfriend, Stella, sang a song for him, inviting him to fly with her. Those of you who have watched it should know. It’s was a little too much aimed at younger children. That song was a slight let down to me. It was probably worst than any from WQ. I mean no offence to those of you who like it. But that is all.

Everyone gathers around the team upon their arrival

Overall, I find that the storyline of WOC was really excellent. Much better than WQ that is. The producers gave a good continuation to the Balto story. I like that fact that the town of Nome in WOC seems to be much warmer and friendly with their people and dogs. It makes it much closer to the first movie where most of the happenings take place in the town itself. That’s what I like about WOC. On contrast, the town in WQ was a bit too lonely with hardly anyone or any other dogs shown walking about. Most of the things were centered on the journey and the wolf clan. Whereas WOC did shows back some of the previous dogs and people from the first Balto movie. Even the places were reused and filmed, such as the Boiler Room and the Telegraph Office. The telegrapher’s dog wasn’t left behind.

Jenna and Balto sharing their joy

As for the characters, we have, as always, a few new ones with their own distinctive characteristics. The characters are loveable. This new story indirectly features one of Balto and Jenna’s son, by the name of Kodi. He’s one of my favorite. Kodi works as a mail dog who delivers the mails and supplies between Nome and a place called White Mountain. When a bush pilot arrives in his airplane and threatens to make Kodi and his friends lose their jobs, by making a faster choice for bringing mails and supplies to Nome, the story begins its journey. It’s an interesting story altogether.

Kodi and Jenna looking up at the sky

All I can say is, it’s an exciting yet meaningful adventure rich with expressions, a show worth watching. Through out the whole story, there’s a good mean behind it all – the selfless thought of helping others, whoever they are and whatever it takes.
